Willow Smith is the little girl of Hollywood royalty. She is a singer and musician who has made a name for herself in pop, R&B, and rock. She has also seem on the talk show “Red Table Talk” with her mother and grandmother.
Early life:
Willow Smith experienced childhood in the public eye. After being in a few movies, Smith put out a song called “Whip My Hair” in 2010 that became a hit. But the pressures of fame eventually made the young Smith so stressed that she stopped performing. Later, Smith began to make music as WILLOW. She put out the album Lately I Feel Everything after overcoming personal doubts and giving in to her lifelong love of rock (2021). By doing this, she claimed a style of music that is very important to the Black community. Smith does more than just make music. Along with her mother and grandmother, she co-hosts the popular talk show Red Table Talk.
Family:
Willow Camille Reign Smith was born in Los Angeles, CA, on October 31, 2000. Smith is the little girl of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who are both famous actors. Jaden Smith is her older brother, and Trey Smith is her older half-brother. Smith grew up in the spotlight because of the status of her family.
Acting and Music in the Past:
Smith and her father both had parts in the 2007 movie I Am Legend. Next, she was in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl (2008), and both she and her mother voiced a character in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008). She also seems in an episode of the TV show True Jackson, VP. Smith sang in Neo Yokio and Adventure Time when he was a teen.
First Pop Single:
Smith was only 9 years old when her first pop single, “Whip My Hair,” came out. The song was a big hit, and in the end, it went platinum and got to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Smith signed a record deal with Jay-Roc Z’s Nation in 2010.
“21st Century Girl” Song:
Smith had some more hits after “Whip My Hair,” like “21st Century Girl” in 2011, but nothing was as big as “Whip My Hair.” She also grew to dislike how stressful it was to be a performer. During her “Whip My Hair” tour in 2012, Smith shaved her head as a protest against going on. She also take decision that she didn’t want to play Annie in a movie version of the musical that her father was making. Smith has said that she later cut herself to try to deal with the pain she was feeling.

Childhood Career:
In 2018, Smith told Pinkett Smith: “I had to forgive you and Daddy for what you did with “Whip My Hair.” Most of the time, it was Daddy because he could be so mean.” She told People magazine in 2019 about her childhood career, “I was truly youthful and I had a fantasy, yet all I truly needed to do was sing, and I didn’t associate that with all the business and stress that accompanied it”.
First Album:
Smith didn’t stop making music even though she didn’t want to do what was asked of her. Ardipithecus, her first album, came out in 2015. The 1st and Willow, her next two albums, both came out in 2017 and 2019.
‘Red Table Talk’
Smith, her mother, and her grandmother on her mother’s side, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, had a habit of telling each other personal stories and giving advice. In 2013, Pinkett Smith recorded and released one of these conversations between people of different ages. Five years later, they started their own talk show on Facebook Watch called Red Table Talk.
How the Family used to talk:
Red Table Talk is set up in a way that is similar to how the family used to talk. On the show, the women from three different generations talked about things like mental health, politics, and sexuality. Smith told people in 2021 that she had more than one partner. Some well-known people who have been on the show are Salma Hayek, Kevin Hart, Olivia Jade Giannulli, and Jordyn Woods.

The Anxiety and Lately I Feel Everything are two albums:
“The Anxiety” Album:
In 2020, Smith and Tyler Cole released The Anxiety, an indie rock album. Smith and Cole did a performance art piece along with the album. They spent 24 hours acting out eight different anxiety-related feelings inside a glass box at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
“Lately I Feel Everything” Album:
Smith grew to love rock music as a teen by listening to bands like My Chemical Romance and Blink-182. Smith next album, Lately I Feel Everything came out in July 2021. It showed how these things had affected her. The album, which Cole helped produce, is seen as pop-punk, but Smith has said, “I knew I didn’t need to do a completely pop-punk record. I knew it needed to have a mix of some moody alternative, more melodic vibes because that’s just who I am.”
Death Threats:
Smith has said that Lately I Feel Everything is the kind of album she’s wanted to make “since I was 12,” but she was afraid to try it out. For one thing, she had been trained in pop and R&B music. Smith had also seen her mother perform in the early 2000s with her nü-metal band, Wicked Wisdom. She loved going to see her mother perform, but she also remembers the death threats Pinkett Smith got while she was on tour.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic:
When schools were locked down, Smith was forced to try new things and get over her fears about making rock music. In 2021, she said, “Even though Black women in the rock world are still not very accepted, times have changed. The only thing that had stopped me from doing this in the past was my own lack of confidence. Now, I want to help younger women of color see that they can do the same thing.”
First Single from the Album:
Travis Barker of Blink-182 was on the first single from the album, “Transparent Soul.” It got on the Hot 100 chart on Billboard. On the album, Smith also worked with punk star Avril Lavigne, who agreed to sing with Smith on the song “Grow.”
Fashion:
As a teenager, Smith was known for wearing clothes that didn’t fit either gender. Her style also includes clothes, hairstyles, and makeup that are more daring. But in an interview for 2021, Smith said, “I’m the kind of person who doesn’t really dress up unless it’s part of my job.”Smith has been the face of ads for Chanel, Cartier, and Mugler, among other brands.
